Internship Opportunities

THE BABY AND I FOUNDATION has internships for summer, fall and spring semesters.  Internship start- and end-dates can be scheduled to fit your academic needs.  In addition, THE BABY AND I FOUNDATION can assist you in arranging academic credit for your internship.  We ask that interns work between 20-40 hours each week during the course of their internship.  THE BABY AND I FOUNDATION offers multiple interns positions during each semester, so we encourage all to apply!

Interns during each semester have the opportunity to learn and engage in the various facets of working for a non-profit organization, such as development, grant-writing, donor outreach and fulfillment, administration, policy and research, certain programs operate during specific times of the year allowing for unique internship experiences for each semester.  Year-round, THE BABY AND I FOUNDATION works closely with highly skilled and dedicated professionals through communication related to reproduction barriers. There are various opportunities to research issues on the forefront of reproduction and women issues, learn of current changes in policy, and engage in casework. Each month, THE BABY AND I FOUNDATION has events related to pregnancy and women issues, as well as receptions for companies to keep offices current on reproduction barriers and women issues.  Interns are often involved in planning and executing these events.

Summer Internship
Summer interns at THE BABY AND I FOUNDATION work closely with the Programs department to assist in planning and executing the H.O.P.E Program “Helping Out by Providing the Essentials”.  The primary responsibility of summer interns is to assist in Outreach for the H.O.P.E Program. Outreach involves engaging companies in the program by calling offices to solicit support. Outreach also involves working with the honorees to arrange for their participation in the program.  In addition, interns are involved in planning the gala and receptions.  The multifaceted H.O.P.E. Program allows interns to gain experience in event planning, social marketing, outreaching to corporations, and public relations.  In addition to working with The Baby and I Foundation, interns also have the unique opportunity to work directly with underprivileged expectant mothers from all over Metro-Atlanta to learn of the barriers they face. 

Fall Internship
Fall interns at THE BABY AND I FOUNDATION work closely with the Programs department to assist in executing the CarED 4 Educational Program.  The primary responsibilities include assisting with program training and implementation. Scheduling educational classes along with preparing educational packets for clients. Secondary duties surrounding the CarED 4 Educational Program also entail arrange for potential donors participation in the program.  In addition, interns are involved in planning the logistics for the gala and receptions.  Interns have the unique opportunity to work directly with the educational department to learn how parenting information works to provide each client with essential skills to raise a healthy family.  In addition, interns are involved in “Moms On the Move Week” by assisting in engaging public officials, national organizations, and celebrities from all over the U.S. to participate in Moms on the Move events.  Interns have the unique opportunity to gain experience in working with experts from all over the country as well as raising public interest in women issues through Moms on A Move Week event planning and coordination.      

Spring Internship
Spring interns at THE BABY AND I FOUNDATION work closely with the Policy department to assist in planning and executing briefings and meetings.  Primary responsibilities include outreaching to city officials to foster their involvement with THE BABY AND I FOUNDATION, as well as assisting in planning briefings and receptions related to current women and reproduction issues.  In addition, spring interns have the opportunity to work in the Programs department to assist in Grant Writing. Spring interns gain experience in event planning, grant writing, networking and more.  Interns have the unique opportunity to work closely with experts in an effort to remove the barriers expectant mothers face on a daily basis.

Commuter Information:    THE BABY AND I FOUNDATION is conveniently located three blocks from Cumberland Mall. Public transportation is accessible from and to office.


Additional Information:
We require a basic understanding of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Internet Explorer and Windows Vista.  Additionally, a willingness to learn new software programs and research technologies and the ability to apply these new skills on a daily basis is essential.
